This week we invite you to explore your practice on and off the mat! ???? Utkata Konasana (Goddess Pose) ???? Goddess Pose, also known as Utkata Konasana, invites you to embody the fierce and strong energy of the goddess within you. This powerful pose strengthens your legs, opens your hips, and cultivates a sense of groundedness. Let’s explore how to step into the goddess energy! Getting into the Pose: 1️⃣ Begin standing with your feet wider than hip-width apart, toes pointing slightly outward. 2️⃣ Bend your knees deeply, ensuring they track in line with your toes. 3️⃣ Sink your hips down, bringing your thighs parallel to the ground. 4️⃣ Lengthen your tailbone downward and engage your core. 5️⃣ Lift your arms out to the sides at shoulder height, bend the elbows, palms face forward… it’s as if you could slide between two walls. Benefits of Goddess Pose: ???? Strengthens: This pose strengthens and tones your leg muscles, including the quadriceps, hamstrings, and glutes. ???? Opens Hips: Goddess Pose stretches and opens the hips, promoting flexibility and relieving tension in the hip area. ???? Aparigraha, one of the five Yamas in yoga philosophy, invites us to embrace the principle of non-possessiveness. It teaches us to let go of attachments, both physical and mental, and cultivate a sense of freedom and contentment in the present moment. This week, we invite you to practice of aparigraha. Here are three options to explore and connect with this powerful principle: 1. “This week, pay attention to your breath. Let the simple act of inhaling and exhaling teach you about the fullness of breathing in life without the need to hold on to it. Journal your observations and experiences.” 2. “This week, look at the physical things you have surrounded yourself with. Do these things make you feel free and light, or do they have a hold on you and make you feel heavy?” 3. “This week, notice where you impose your expectations on people and things, unconsciously demanding that they give you the usual fulfillment and comfort. Deep Stretch: This pose stretches the hamstrings, inner thighs, and groins, promoting flexibility and release of tension. ???? Energizing the Body: The inversion aspect of the pose encourages increased blood flow to the brain, revitalizing the body and mind. ???? This week we invite you to explore a fun partner exercise! Partner Wide-Legged Folds Wide Legged Forward Folds, also known as Prasarita Padottanasana, offer numerous benefits, including: ???? Deep Stretch: This pose stretches the hamstrings, inner thighs, and groins, promoting flexibility and release of tension. ???? Energizing the Body: The inversion aspect of the pose encourages increased blood flow to the brain, revitalizing the body and mind. ???? Calming the Mind: By folding forward and focusing on the breath, you can cultivate a sense of calm, reducing stress and anxiety. Now, let’s bring in the fun and connection of a partner stretch! Here’s how you can do a Partner Wide Legged Fold: 1️⃣ Find a partner and stand facing each other with your feet wide apart, feet touching your partners feet, legs extended, and toes pointing skyward. 2️⃣ Hold hands, wrists, or forearms with your partner, maintaining a gentle grip and keeping your arms straight. 3️⃣ Inhale deeply, elongating your spine, and as you exhale, slowly fold forward from the hips, keeping your back straight. This week we invite you to explore an asana (physical posture). Ardha Pincha Mayurasana (Dolphin pose) ✨ Dolphin Pose: Ardha Pincha Mayurasana ✨This pose is a fantastic way to build strength and flexibility while preparing your body for inversions. So let’s explore the magic of Dolphin Pose! Getting into the Pose: Begin on all fours, aligning your shoulders directly over your wrists and your hips over your knees. Lower your forearms to the mat, keeping them parallel to each other. Elbows directly under your shoulders… they sometimes like to try to come wider. Tuck your toes and lift your hips, straightening your legs to create an inverted “V” shape. Press firmly through your forearms and palms, allowing your head to hang between your upper arms. Try tip-toeing your feet closer towards your upper-body to open your chest more. Benefits of Dolphin Pose: ???? Strengthens: Dolphin Pose engages and tones your core, shoulders, and arms, building upper body strength. ???? Lengthens: The pose stretches your hamstrings and calves, providing relief to tight muscles. ???? Improves Digestion: By encouraging blood flow to your abdomen, Dolphin Pose aids digestion and helps alleviate digestive issues. ???? Tight shoulders or hamstrings: If you experience tightness, consider bending your knees slightly or using props such as blocks to support your forearms. ???? Strained neck or wrists: Ensure that your head hangs naturally between your arms, without putting excess pressure on your neck. By utilizing the aerial silks we can add dynamic movement to familiar poses and stretches often explored on the mat. We will also look at tricks such as flips. You will need to rent a silk or buy an URU safety approved silk. 1 time Aerial Silk rental: $5 5 time Aerial Silk rental: $25. $130 to buy your own silk, rings and carabiners. This week we invite you to explore moving your spine in six directions. Welcome to our brief yoga tutorial where we’ll guide you through moving your spine in 6 directions. By incorporating these spinal movements into your yoga practice or fitness routine, you can experience improved flexibility, increased strength, enhanced posture, reduced back pain, and an overall sense of well-being. It is essential to perform these movements mindfully, respecting your body’s limits and avoiding any discomfort or pain. ❤ The following are the physical benefits of each of the mentioned spinal movements: Flexion (forward bending): Stretches the back muscles, hamstrings, and hips.
